AshWinter

AshWinter is an independent multiplayer survival-horror roleplay game being developed by Rulost Studios.

AshWinter takes place in a frozen, Scandinavian-inspired colonial world, built from the ground up around themes of survival, solitude, memory, and eldritch forces attempting to wipe your fragile mind from existence.

Players will need to balance hunger, warmth, stamina, and sanity in an effort to survive, explore the world outside the safety of the settlement, gather supplies, work with other survivors, and understand the strange and malevolent forces that oppose them at every step.

Current Development Stage

Development of AshWinter is currently in the pre-production phase.

The core concepts, world, gameplay direction, and general identity of the project have been established, and the current priority is dedicated to laying the groundwork required before full development begins.

This includes technical planning, staffing, asset preparation, website and backend development, and organizing how the first public version of AshWinter should come together.

What is AshWinter?

AshWinter is intended to be an accessible and immersive experience centered around survival and roleplay, while heavily exploring themes of isolation.

Features likely to appear in AshWinter include:

  • Multiplayer survival and roleplay

  • Hunger, warmth, stamina, and sanity mechanics

  • Exploration and resource gathering

  • Trade, co-op, and PvP

  • Factions and professions

  • Emergent storytelling

  • Atmospheric horror

  • Memory, isolation, and eldritch horror

In short, AshWinter aims to provide a sandbox-like yet challenging experience, where the world itself resists intrusion, but the actions of the players are what ultimately shape the game.
